TYPES OF POLLUTION
1.Noise Pollution
Noise pollution, also known as sound pollution, refers to unwanted or excessive sound that can have harmful effects on human health, wildlife, and environmental quality.
It is commonly generated by transportation systems such as road, rail, and air traffic, industrial facilities, construction activities, and household appliances.
Sources include loud music, traffic, aircraft, construction equipment, lawn care tools, and even natural phenomena like thunder
2.Soil Pollution
Soil pollution refers to the contamination of soil by harmful substances, such as chemicals, heavy metals, and waste materials, which negatively impact soil quality, fertility, and the health of ecosystems and humans.
It is primarily caused by human activities, including industrial waste dumping, excessive use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides in agriculture.
3.Water Pollution
Water pollution is the contamination of water bodies such as rivers, lakes, oceans, aquifers, and groundwater with harmful substances that degrade water quality and impair its beneficial uses.
It occurs when pollutants like chemicals, microorganisms, plastics, and toxic compounds enter water sources, often due to human activities including industrial discharge, agricultural runoff, untreated sewage, and urban stormwater
4.Wind Pollution
Wind itself is not a pollutant, but it plays a critical role in the movement, dispersion, and concentration of air pollutants, significantly influencing air quality. Wind acts as a primary mechanism for dispersing pollutants away from their sources, thereby reducing local concentrations and preventing the buildup of harmful particles and gases
5.Air Pollution
Air pollution refers to the presence of harmful substances in the atmosphere that can adversely affect human health, ecosystems, and the climate.
It is caused by the emission of pollutants such as gases (e.g., carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, ozone, and volatile organic compounds), particulate matter (PM), and other airborne particles from both human activities and natural sources.
